SCOTTLAND’S flamboyant display paid off after they got the better of defending champions Simba Bhora defeating the reigning champions 2–0 in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League encounter played at Rufaro Stadium this Sunday.
Michael Tapera was the hero for the home side, scoring a brace, much to the delight of Scottland fans.
The match began quietly, with both teams creating few clear-cut chances in the first half.
Despite the energetic atmosphere fuelled by fans from both ends, the teams went into halftime goalless.
However, the deadlock was broken in the 80th minute when Tapera scored, sending the home crowd into raptures.
He sealed the victory four minutes later, sparking jubilant celebrations among Scottland supporters.
With this win, Scottland moved to within a point of log leaders MWOS, who sit on 23 points.
In other matches, Highlanders and FC Platinum shared spoils in a 1-all draw at Barbourfields Stadium.
Mason Mushore gave Highlanders an early lead in the 7th minute, but Devine Mhindirira equalised for FC Platinum.
Elsewhere, Triangle secured a 2-nil win over struggling Dynamos, while Chicken Inn thrashed Kwekwe United 4-2.
