THE National Sports Stadium could reopen next month, raising hopes for the return of Premier Soccer League action to Zimbabwe’s largest sporting venue.
Members of Parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture are conducting an inspection of the stadium in Harare today to assess progress on the ongoing refurbishment works.
The latest visit comes three months after the committee’s previous inspection, during which contractors indicated that renovations would be completed by the end of April.
With the upgrade programme now in its final stages, expectations are mounting that the iconic facility will soon be ready to host competitive matches once again.
The reopening would mark a significant milestone for Zimbabwean sport, particularly for Premier Soccer League clubs that have been forced to use alternative venues during the stadium’s prolonged closure.
