Chatunga Mugabe returns home after South Africa deportation

FORMER President Robert Mugabe’s son, Bellarmine “Chatunga” Mugabe, is back home after being deported from South Africa.

Bellarmine arrived at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport in Harare this Wednesday evening.

Mugabe appeared at the Alexandra Magistrates Court in Johannesburg in the afternoon and was fined R600 000 following a shooting incident which happened in Johannesburg earlier this year.

Soon after his sentencing, the 28-year-old was taken to OR Tambo International Airport for deportation.

However, his co-accused and cousin, Tobias Matonhodze aged 33, has remained behind after being sentenced to three years in prison.

Bellarmine was initially charged with attempted murder but was eventually convicted early this month for pointing a firearm at a South African national and being in that country illegally.

Matonhodze, however, took the heavier blow after being convicted of attempted murder, defeating the course of justice, unlawful possession of a firearm and contravening the Immigration Act.
