GOVERNMENT has announced a new remuneration framework for civil servants, set to take effect on April 1, 2026, as part of efforts to improve welfare and conditions of service across the public sector.

Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare Minister, Honourable Edgar Moyo, revealed the development during a media briefing in Bulawayo on Friday.

The new structure follows the completion of a comprehensive job evaluation exercise and is aligned with national priorities under the National Development Strategy Two and Vision 2030.

Honourable Moyo said the initiative reflects government’s commitment to building a responsive, motivated and adequately supported public service.

“Government acknowledges, with appreciation, the maturity, responsibility, and constructive engagement demonstrated in the ongoing dialogue between the Government and workers representatives. This spirit of social dialogue reflects a shared understanding of national priorities and a collective commitment to balancing the welfare of workers with the broader developmental imperatives of the nation.”

The reforms introduce targeted measures to strengthen remuneration, safeguard incomes and improve overall working conditions for civil servants and pensioners.

Key among the interventions is the implementation of a new salary structure informed by the job evaluation findings, alongside enhanced occupational safety and health measures within the public sector.

Government is also rolling out initiatives aimed at improving access to affordable housing for civil servants as part of broader welfare support.

Honourable Moyo said the reforms will be implemented in a phased and sustainable manner, taking into account fiscal realities while sustaining momentum in national development programmes.

Authorities have called on public servants to remain committed to their duties, uphold professionalism and continue delivering quality services as Zimbabwe advances towards its development goals.
