HARARE – THE Commander-in-Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces President Emmerson Mnangagwa has promoted Brigadier General Asher Walter Tapfumaneyi to the rank of Major General.
Conferring badges of rank to the newly promoted Major General Asher Tapfumaneyi at the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) headquarters in Harare this Friday, Commander ZDF General Philip Valerio Sibanda implored the officer to be exemplary.
“Congratulations to you Major General Tapfumaneyi and you are welcome back to the ZDF and we are looking forward to working with you.”
In his acceptance speech, Major General Tapfumaneyi expressed gratitude to President Mnangagwa for the honour, while extending his appreciation to the ZDF leadership and members for their continued support and trust in his service.
“I am determined and committed to supporting the President’s vision and the Commander’s plan in defence of this country and making sure the country remains secure. I want to thank His Excellency for promoting me.”
Major General Tapfumaneyi has held several senior positions in government, including being Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Veterans of the Liberation Struggle Affairs and Deputy Director General of the Central Intelligence Organisation.
