THREE suspected members of the 20-armed gang which pounced at the Alpha Omega Farm in Marondera last week, getting away with $74 000 last week appeared in court this Saturday.

The trio, Kelvin Murehwa aged 30, Peter Maramba Vhiya (43) and Takudzwa Maisvoreva (24) were further detained into police custody to assist with investigations.

It is the State’s case that the gang which was armed with rifles, pistols, bolt-cutters, machetes and iron bars attacked the farm security personnel at Alpha Omega farm and gained entry where they assaulted the occupants demanding cash.

Still at the Courts, brothers, Mike and John Nongwe who are facing allegations of robbing and assaulting the parents of the Minister of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture appeared at the Harare Magistrates Court and were remanded in custody.

The pair stands accused of raiding Mr Robert Edwin and Lyn Coventry at their Glen Lorne home armed with guns, tying the hands and legs of their victims with shoelaces in the process.

It is further alleged that they got away with US$15 000 cash, jewellery worth US$60 000, three hair dryers, Honorable Coventry’s Olympic swimsuits, and three hunting firearms among other valuables.

In addition to the Glen Lorne armed robbery, the Nongwe brothers face allegations of six other robberies committed earlier this year.
