New admin block commissioned at Chaparadza Primary School

Story by Tapiwa Machemedze

Modernisation of infrastructure in rural schools continues to attract domestic investment with the latest development directed at Chaparadza Primary School in Rushinga District.

Chaparadza Primary School was characterised by a joyous celebration this Friday after the commissioning of an administration block built by the Presidential Guard Commander Brigadier-General Fidelis Mhonda.

“I am happy following the commissioning of this new block at our school. We are grateful to Brigadier General Mhonda for the kind gesture, he has ploughed back to his community,” said a learner from the school.

‘This is a welcome development because children have clean water due to the new borehole. They used to carry water in bottles. We welcome the commissioning of this new block. Our school is developing, and we are moving in line with others,” noted a parent.

Presidential Guard Commander Brigadier-General Fidelis Mhonda said he was motivated to give back to the school where he began his academic journey.

‘We started building this block in 2023 when we hired a company that built it from foundation to roof level. We also got help from engineers from the Presidential Guard where I work. We worked together with parents, the community and others who supported this program. What inspired me to help this school is that this is where I did my sub-A to standard 5,” he said.

The opening of the administration block, Complemented by a borehole, fence installation and school assembly point, dovetails with the government’s quest to enhance infrastructure at schools.

The opening of this block is an indication of development in our province. It is in line with the clarion call by His Excellency President Mnangagwa that, “Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo.” Allow me, therefore, to express my sincere gratitude to Brigadier F. Mhonda, the Zimbabwe National Army, the local leadership and parents for their invaluable collaboration,” highlighted Mashonaland Central Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Christopher Magomo.

The elderly in the community also walked away with smiles on their faces after receiving blankets donated by the CMED.
