RESIDENTS in Muzarabani District turned out in large numbers on day three of public hearings on the Constitutional Amendment No. 3 Bill, as legislators continued nationwide consultations to gather citizens’ views on the proposed changes.
The meeting, held at the Community Hall, drew significant attendance, with participants expressing their opinions on key provisions contained in the Bill.
“I want to express support for the Constitutional Amendment Number 3 Bill. This will allow the President to finish his job. He started many projects, and he must complete them,” a resident said.
“The President should be allowed to select 10 Senators in addition to the existing number. This will allow him to have a pool of technocrats that we need for the country to develop,” another participant noted.
“Of the clause which I support in the Bill, I just want to touch on the aspects of Vice Presidents. This thing of saying first Vice President and Second Vice President should be done away with,” a resident said.
The consultations were conducted in a peaceful atmosphere, with the council hall filled to capacity, reflecting growing public interest in the constitutional review process.
Legislators concluded day three of the consultations after gathering views from Muzarabani residents.
The public hearings in Mashonaland Central Province are expected to conclude on the fourth and final day in Mbire District, where residents will also be given an opportunity to present their views.
