HERENTALS Queens striker Praynance Zvawanda has become the toast of the Women’s top flight after scoring her 11th goal of the season as the defending champions returned to winning ways.
Defending champions Herentals Queens suffered their first defeat of the season last week and were faced with the task of overcoming a stubborn Maningi Youth Academy as they seek redemption.
Maningi Academy have emerged as the giant killer in the women’s top flight taking points from most of the big teams and on Saturday they nearly wrote the same script.
With the match seemingly headed for a draw, up-stepped Praynance Zvawanda in added time to snatch the winner for the defending champions.
The 22 -year-old Zvawanda has been consistent, scoring 26 goals in the league two years ago before finding the back of the net 18 times last season.
Herentals are still top of the league courtesy of a superior goal difference over second-placed Chapungu who thumped Mutare City seven-nil.
Herentals and Chapungu have 27 points apiece with eight wins, one draw and a loss each.
Third-placed Black Rhinos Queens were not in action at the weekend, while Correctional Queens kept pace with the log leaders after walloping Hope Academy nine-nil.
ZRP Harare are rooted at the bottom of the log without a single point, while MSU, Mutare City and Hope Academy are not too far ahead.
