THE Second Republic has moved a gear up in improving health services delivery, with Mashonaland Central benefitting from distribution of a second batch of ambulances acquired by government.

Mashonaland Central Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Honourable Christopher Magomo described the initiative as a milestone in the quest to deliver quality health care.

“Since inception in 2017 the Second Republic took a deliberate move to expand and upscale health services delivery that leaves no place and no one behind. The commissioning is a demonstration of government commitment to improving health care infrastructure,” he said.

“This donation of ambulances will come in handy as we had an old fleet of equipment, they are coming with state of the art equipment, They are well equipped to such an extent that we will be able to transfer patients and effectively save lives,” said Shamva District Medical Officer, Dr Tendai Kamuriwo.

“We received three ambulances and five chemistry analyser machines. We are very grateful as a province and express deep gratitude to the government for showing commitment to improving access and strengthening the quality of health services that we provide to Mash Central residents,” noted Dr Hellen Kabaya, Provincial Maternal and Child Health Officer, Dr Hellen Kabaya.

Chemistry analysers are used to test and diagnose ailments affecting the liver and kidneys. The equipment comes ahead of the festive season, a busy period associated with an increase in road traffic accidents, thus necessitating speed in emergency response.
