Government has reaffirmed its commitment to employing pro-people policies that are sure to address their socio-economic concerns for inclusive development.
In an interview with ZBC News recently, Acting President Colonel (Retired) Kembo Mohadi revealed that the government has been making inroads to revolutionise the agriculture sector to unlock dead capital.
Part of the strategies has been to develop pro-people policies.
He said, “In the agricultural sector, another bold and decisive step of the government of President Mnangagwa during the year 2024 was the proposal of a land policy that would give indigenous farmers direct ownership of their land. This would allow them to use their land as collateral for loans or sell it for investment. This will unlock a lot of dead capital for the country.”
Social service provision including in the health sector remains a government priority.
“On health, the Ministry of Health and Child Care procured cancer machines for Parirenyatwa and Mpilo hospitals. They also implemented a basic diagnostic tool for village health workers to screen diagnose basic conditions,” said the Acting President.
He spoke into the Second Republic’s drive to foster local and regional integration.
“As a people we have remained united, the divisions we hear about if any are those we read from newspapers and social media. We successfully launched the Gukurahundi Community Engagement Outreach by President Mnangagwa. This initiative seeks to address the historical grievances arising from disturbances. In 2024 Zimbabwe continued to assert its leadership role within the SADC.”
The Acting President also noted that government remains committed to promoting peace and sustainable development.
