PRESIDENT Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa is commissioning the University of Zimbabwe Industrial Incubation Centre in Harare’s Msasa Industrial Area this Monday, marking another milestone in the country’s drive to commercialise innovation and accelerate industrialisation.
The centre has been established to support product development and transform research and innovative ideas into market-ready solutions.
Its launch aligns with Zimbabwe’s Heritage-Based Education 5.0 model, which promotes the production of goods and services through innovation, research and industrial application.
The facility is expected to strengthen the University of Zimbabwe’s capacity to convert prototype innovations into commercially viable projects, creating new opportunities for entrepreneurship and economic growth.
The Industrial Incubation Centre also provides a platform for collaboration between academia and industry by opening opportunities for private sector investment in innovations emerging from university research and innovation hubs.
The initiative is expected to contribute to the country’s industrialisation agenda while creating pathways for young innovators to transform their ideas into sustainable enterprises.
