Four suspected robbers arrested after Kuwadzana heist, police close In on more suspects

FOUR suspected armed robbers who vanished with more than US$120 000 from Meru Service Station in Kuwadzana last week have been arrested.

The suspects who were rounded up in a dramatic turn of events are Willard Zvinorukwa, Ernest Manzunzu, Ashwin Mukondwa and Bornface Masora.

The quartet stand accused of robbing a local service station of US$129 000.

Circumstances are that on March 6, detectives from the Criminal Investigation Department of Homicide Harare received information that one of the suspects involved in the robbery was in Chitungwiza.

The detectives followed up and located one Zvinorukwa who tried to flee but was shot on the right shin after he ignored the Police’s warning shots leading to his arrest.

Upon being investigated Zvinorukwa implicated eight other suspects including Ernest Manzunzu, Ashwin Mukondwa and Bornface Masora.

The Police followed up on the leads and arrested Ernest Manzunzu in Norton who also implicated several other suspects who are still at large.

Further investigations led to the arrest of Ashwin Mukondwa at his residence in Masona Village, Seke. Mukondwa also implicated several others and led the detectives to the arrest of Bornface Masora, who had an outstanding warrant of arrest for an armed robbery case in Karoi.

Meanwhile, the Police are hunting for suspects who fatally shot Detective Constable Cassandra Hove from CID homicide Bulawayo, while another manhunt is in motion for two inmates who escaped from Mutimurefu Prison in Masvingo.
