Former champions look to bounce back to winning ways

Story by Courage Bushe

Mandava Stadium will this Saturday be the stage for a clash of two teams with different ambitions where title aspirants FC Platinum will be eager to dismantle Arenel Movers, who are seeking premiership survival.

Dubbed “David versus Goliath affair”, FC Platinum, who this season have lost once at home, will be eager to utilise home advantage.

Although Arenel Movers will be eager to prove they can compete with top teams, FC Platinum coach Norman Mapeza is bullish ahead of the encounter.

“As I always say, every game is important to us, so we are trying our level best to get three points. Our aim is to try and maintain that form we have at the moment. At the moment, with the form that we have, I think we can go far. We know how they will approach this game, and we know they are capable of upsetting us, but we are ready,” he said.

Going into this match, the two teams have just met once early this year with the match ending in a two-all draw.

FC Platinum welcome back midfielders Panashe Mutimbanyoka and Juan Mutudza who were nursing injuries.

Meanwhile, Dynamos face Simba Bhora at Barbourfields on the same day, while CAPS United travel to Kariba for a date with ZPC Kariba as Yadah hosts TelOne at The Heart Stadium.

Green Fuel welcome Chicken Inn to Chisumbanje, while Bulawayo Chiefs take on Bikita Minerals at Luveve Stadium.

Sunday will see Highlanders tackle defending champions Ngezi Platinum Stars at Barbourfields, while Manica Diamonds host Herentals at Sakubva, with Hwange welcoming Chegutu Pirates to the Colliery.
