THE European Union (EU) says its continued participation at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) reflects growing interest in strengthening trade and investment ties with Zimbabwe.
The EU, participating for the fourth consecutive year, held a news conference at its pavilion this Thursday, signalling its commitment to deepening economic cooperation.
EU Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Her Excellency Katrin Hagemann, said Europe remains open to expanding trade relations across key sectors.
“Our participation here shows that we are open for business. We want to deepen our trade relations with Zimbabwe in various sectors,” she said.
The bloc is also exploring opportunities to collaborate under Zimbabwe’s value addition and industrialisation drive, particularly in mining and agriculture.
Germany’s Ambassador to Zimbabwe, His Excellency Christoph Retzlaff, said his country is keen to build new partnerships.
“It is our first time here, and we are excited because we want to forge partnerships in key sectors,” he noted.
Similarly, Sweden’s Ambassador to Zimbabwe, His Excellency Per Lindgärde, highlighted interest in the mining sector.
“We are involved in various mining ventures, so we want our companies to establish relations with Zimbabwean companies,” he said.
Team Europe’s presence at ZITF underscores momentum in Zimbabwe’s engagement and re-engagement efforts, positioning the country as an emerging destination for trade, investment and strategic partnerships.
