ZIMBABWE’S tourism sector continues to defy the odds, after a United States publication, Forbes Magazine, ranked the country as the best place to visit globally in 2025.

The recognition comes at a time when South Africa’s Bona Magazine also named the iconic Victoria Falls Bridge among Africa’s coolest bridges.

Destination Zimbabwe continues to make a mark on the global stage, amid increased interest by international tourists to visit the country.

Following the latest recognition of the country, which also boasts of tourist attractions such as the Great Zimbabwe monument, the Eastern Highlands, Hwange and Gonarezhou national parks and the majestic Victoria Falls, tourism sector players are upbeat of increased investments to ensure continued growth of the industry.

“Zimbabwe is a beautiful country, even those who are outside the country are acknowledging it and they are saying it out loud. This is despite the fact that the country is under illegal sanctions. This should see more visitors coming to Zimbabwe. The way the tourism industry has remained strong under illegal sanctions means it could be even better if sanctions are to be removed,” tourism executive Mrs Tatenda Gunda noted.

“Zimbabwe’s tourism sector is a sanctions buster. Despite the challenges, private travellers seeking memorable and refreshing holidays recognise that Zimbabwe is among the best destinations globally. We are proud to be back on the world map and to be recognised for what we have built and preserved as a country,” Tourism Executive, Dr Clement Mukwasi added.

“Zimbabwe is irresistibly beautiful. International magazines are alive to this and they are mentioning it. This is all happening when the country is under sanctions, a sign of resilience for destination Zimbabwe,” tourism executive, Dr Mercy Mushangwe weighed in.

The latest international recognition underscores the resilience of Zimbabwe’s tourism sector, which welcomed over two million visitors in 2024, a remarkable milestone that reflects the country’s continued recovery and growth despite the existence of illegal sanctions.

Apart from offering irresistible tourism offerings, Zimbabwe is peaceful and a renowned investment destination.

Zimbabwe has several tourist attractions, such as the Victoria Falls Bridge, which also remains one of Zimbabwe’s most captivating landmarks and a must-see for adventure and heritage enthusiasts alike.
