The Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) netball team, the ZDF Queens got a morale boost after they received a brand-new kit from Colonel Miniyothabo Baloyi-Chiwenga this Thursday.
Having gone on a 26-game unbeaten run, with four matches to go before the end of season, the ZDF Queens are the best team in the Netball League this season.
Their effort has not gone unnoticed after the ZDF Queens received a brand new kit from Style by Minnie, a clothing outfit owned by Colonel Baloyi-Chiwenga, wife to Vice President, General (Rtd) Dr Constantino Chiwenga.
Handing over the kits at ZDF headquarters in Harare this Thursday, Colonel Baloyi -Chiwenga said the team deserves all the support.
“What informed my donation today is that, firstly, as a member of the Disembodied Defence Forces, I’m very close to the team. I see them the way they are playing. I’m proud to be associated with their brand. And as a founding director of Style by Mini, I thought that as part of our corporate social responsibility, I must be able to show that we are giving back to the communities that we are surviving in.
“And this is our way of making sure that the girl child is empowered, that when they are playing the sport, they have the necessary resources that will make them excel. And I’ve been following the way they play. They have played so well. Twenty-six games, they haven’t lost any game. And they are left with four games to go. And we’re keeping our fingers crossed that they may be the champions for this season. So we had to support them so that they play,” she said.
With a heart filled with gratitude, ZDF Queens captain, Caroline Matura vowed to repay the support with victory.
She said, “We are happy to receive the donation from Colonel Baloyi-Chiwenga through her company Style by Minnie. This donation has boosted our moral and I want to assure that we are going to be crowned achampions.”
The equipment includes carrying nets, match balls, fully sublimated tracksuits and match-day uniforms.
