THE Chivi Central community is enjoying the benefits of the government’s developmental programmes, including borehole sinking and road rehabilitation alongside food aid.
Despite Chivi being a dry region, the Second Republic has ensured that villagers have access to water for domestic use and agricultural production.
With the country battling the Elnino-induced drought, the government has also come to the rescue of villagers through food aid.
“Since the coming in of the Second Republic led by President Emmerson Mnangagwa, we have seen improvements in our area. Access to water had been the greatest challenge but we have seen boreholes being sunk and rehabilitated such that communities start agriculture projects,” said a Chivi community member.
Another said, “Our road network has improved and this has also ensured that we receive food aid in time and agriculture inputs.”
Addressing villagers in Chivi Central’s Ward 18 at the weekend, area legislator Honourable Xavier Maoneke expressed gratitude to the constituency for supporting the ZANU PF party, imploring them to embrace the Second Republic’s developmental programmes.
“We continue to come back to the community which voted us in power to thank them and hear their concerns to inform the government. Here in Chivi Central, the biggest problem is access to water and the Elnino-induced drought has worsened the situation but we thank the government for the village boreholes and food aid. Again, the government is implementing several programmes and I urge the community to take part in those programmes, especially in the agriculture sector for improved livelihoods,” said Honourable Maoneke.
The Second Republic is working on establishing village business units, including community gardens, under the Rural Development 8.0 Model to ensure improved livelihoods in rural communities.
