BULAWAYO – CHILDREN of war veterans in Bulawayo have started accessing the US$500 000 revolving fund availed by government as an empowerment vehicle.
The fund, dedicated to supporting the offspring of liberation war heroes, is aimed at fostering self-reliance through the establishment of income-generating projects, in line with the Second Republic’s commitment to inclusive development.
Through this facility, beneficiaries are encouraged to embark on sustainable ventures that will contribute to national productivity while improving their livelihoods.
“We thank the President for this initiative. It will help us sustain ourselves and our families,” a beneficiary said.
“We appreciate this project. It shows that the government remembers and honours our parents’ contributions to Zimbabwe’s liberation,” another added.
The ZANU PF Bulawayo Provincial leadership, along with the Children of Zimbabwe Liberation War Veterans and Zimbabweans Association (CZLWVA), have welcomed the fund, noting its potential to transform communities.
CZLWVA Provincial Chairperson, Cde Nkosinathi Ndlovu, encouraged young people to use the funds wisely and collectively.
“This is a commendable initiative by the government to encourage and empower the children of our liberation heroes. We are urging them to form groups and establish projects that will sustain themselves and future generations,” Cde Ndlovu said.
The initiative is a testament to the government’s thrust of leaving no one and no place behind in its empowerment efforts.
