Lawrence Trusida, Sports Editor

THE Zimbabwe senior men’s cricket team, the Chevrons once again flattered to deceive after losing the T20 series to Sri Lanka following a dismal performance in the decider this Thursday.

The Chevrons were thumped by nine wickets in the decisive third match at the Premadasa Cricket ground in Colombo to lose the series 2-1.

The first two matches were characterized by a tense climax but the decider was a walkover.

Zimbabwe started with promise, hitting 35 off their first three overs.

Their challenges with spin bowling were however soon exposed as they crumbled rapidly losing four wickets to Wanindu Hasaranga, two to Maheesh Theekshana, and one to Dhananjaya de Silva.

The Chevrons lost nine wickets for 49 runs, while Sri Lanka had no problems on the same surface.

The hosts reached the target in just 10overs for the loss of only one wicket, thereby sealing the series 2-1.

The Chevrons return home empty-handed after losing the ODI series two nil.

Meanwhile, there was no joy at home as the Lady Chevrons lost to Ireland by 10 wickets in the first One Day International at Harare Sports Club.

Elsewhere, the 2024 Under 19 World Cup bowls off this Friday in South Africa.
