ZIMBABWEAN boxer Ndodana Ncube has died.
He was 29.
The Zimbabwe National Boxing and Wrestling Control Board confirmed his death following complications arising from injuries sustained during a bout in South Africa earlier this year.
Popularly known as “The Black Hammer,” Ncube collapsed shortly after defeating South African boxer Lunga Stimela in Middelburg, Mpumalanga, before doctors discovered a blood clot in his brain, leading to emergency surgery and weeks in intensive care.
The Hwange-born fighter had reportedly shown signs of recovery after regaining consciousness, but eventually succumbed to his injuries, plunging the local boxing fraternity into mourning.
Ncube fought professionally between 2018 and 2025, recording 10 wins, eight losses and three draws, with six victories coming by knockout.
Funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
