FIVE-time world champions Brazil were knocked out of the FIFA World Cup after a dramatic 2-1 defeat to Norway in the Round of 16.

Erling Haaland delivered a match-winning performance, scoring twice late in the game to propel Norway into the World Cup quarter-finals for the first time in the nation’s history.

The prolific striker broke the deadlock in the 79th minute before adding a second in regulation time to complete a remarkable victory.

Brazil reduced the deficit through a Neymar penalty in stoppage time, but the late goal was not enough to prevent their elimination.

Following the defeat, an emotional Neymar hinted that his international career could be coming to an end.

England also progressed to the last eight after edging Mexico 3-2 in a pulsating encounter.

Jude Bellingham scored twice before Harry Kane converted from the penalty spot as the Three Lions held on despite finishing the match with 10 men following Jarell Quansah’s red card.

England will now face Norway in the quarter-finals.

The Round of 16 continues today with an Iberian derby as Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal meet European champions Spain for a place in the last eight.
