Anje Van As wins second gold at Africa Aquatics Championships

ANJE Van As has continued to lead Zimbabwe’s strong showing at the 2026 Africa Aquatics Championships in Algeria after winning another gold medal in the 100m butterfly event this Thursday.

The Zimbabwean swimming sensation produced another impressive display in Oran to take her medal haul at the championships to four, including two gold medals, as she cements her status as one of the country’s brightest prospects for the 2028 Los Angeles Summer Olympics.

Van As has also broken the Zimbabwe national record in the 50 metres butterfly during the competition, underlining her growing dominance in the pool.

Zimbabwe’s overall medal tally at the championships now stands at six, made up of two gold, three silver, and one bronze.
