After four years of service, the French Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Mr Laurent Chevallier has bade farewell to President Emmerson Mnangagwa as he concludes his tenure in the country.
Ambassador Chevallier reaffirmed his country’s commitment to strengthening relations with Zimbabwe.
Over the years, there have been efforts to develop the economic ties between Zimbabwe and France and after a closed meeting with the President, Ambassador Chevallier said he used the opportunity to reaffirm France’s commitment to bolster relations with Zimbabwe in various areas which include education.
“It was a privilege to meet His Excellency just before my departure after 4 years of mandate as Ambassador of France here in Zimbabwe. We had the opportunity to discuss the partnership between France and Zimbabwe and our common will to reinforce the partnership and the fields of opportunities to develop especially in the economic sector and I had the opportunity to reiterate to His Excellency France’s commitment to strengthen the relationship in many fields as we are already implementing a partnership in many fields like research and cultural heritage and education,” he said.
Ambassador Chevallier said several investors are expected to come to Zimbabwe in the next few months to explore possible areas of cooperation.
“We see opportunities in the economic sectors we hope to have a new fleet of investors coming here visiting Zimbabwe and prospective in the next few months.”
Both countries are optimistic about increasing the limited trade between them.
