THE Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has arrested the operator of an illegal drug rehabilitation centre in Shamva and closed the facility.
In a statement, police said Lancos Kuuyangepi was arrested for allegedly operating an unlicensed rehabilitation facility known as the Lancos Drug Abuse Reintegration Facility at Number 449 Janye Crescent, Wadzanai, Shamva.
“The ZRP confirms the arrest of Lancos Kuuyangepi (30) for operating an illegal drug rehabilitation centre, Lancos Drug Abuse Reintegration Facility, situated at Number 449 Janye Crescent, Wadzanai, Shamva,” the police said.
Police said the facility had since been shut down, with those housed there transferred to a registered rehabilitation institution.
“The Centre has since been closed with the victims being taken to Chipadze Rehabilitation Centre, Bindura,” the ZRP said.
In a separate incident, police confirmed the arrest of Micheal Mabhandi in connection with an assault captured in a video that has been widely shared on social media.
“ZRP confirms the arrest of Micheal Mabhandi (37) for assaulting a complainant in Guruve in a video which has gone viral on social media,” the statement said.
