ZIMBABWE’S flagship July Worship Music Festival returns to Glamis Arena on 11 July, with organisers promising an expanded line-up and a richer worship experience.

Since its launch in 2018, the festival has grown into one of the country’s biggest gospel gatherings, attracting thousands of worshippers each year.

Speaking during a media briefing this Wednesday, organisers said this year’s edition will feature established gospel ministers, emerging artistes, former backing vocalists and gospel hip-hop performers, with new segments introduced to broaden the festival’s appeal while preserving its spiritual focus.

Festival founder, Minister Michael Mahendere, said the event remains centred on its core mission of worshipping God.

“We started this journey in 2018 with a small gathering, and by the grace of God we have continued to grow, moving from smaller venues to bigger platforms. This year we are taking another step by hosting the festival at Glamis Arena.”

He added:
“We have introduced new categories, including gospel hip-hop, and created space for emerging ministers because we want this platform to continue growing. We are gathering as one people to praise and worship God together.”

Emerging artistes welcomed the opportunity to perform on one of Zimbabwe’s biggest gospel stages.

“Performing at the July Worship Music Festival is a great honour, and we are preparing to give worshippers an unforgettable experience,” one artiste said.

A former backing vocalist, now a solo artiste, described the festival as an important platform for upcoming gospel musicians.

“This platform is a blessing because it gives emerging ministers and artistes an opportunity to showcase their gifts on a bigger stage.”

A gospel hip-hop performer said the festival demonstrates that different musical styles can all be used to spread the Gospel.

This year’s line-up includes Eleana Makombe, Gemma Griffiths, Michael Mahendere, Misheck Mahendere, The Cherayis and the Charamba family, among other gospel artistes.
