THE Zimbabwe Anti Presidential Insult (ZAPI) has expressed confidence that the Constitutional Amendment No. 3 Bill will sail through Parliament, describing the proposed legislation as key to political stability, continuity of development programmes and investor confidence.

Speaking during an engagement meeting in Chiredzi this Sunday, ZAPI leadership said the organisation is intensifying nationwide consultations to educate citizens on the proposed constitutional changes ahead of parliamentary debate.

ZAPI National Vice Chairperson, Cde Josphat Sarukore, said the Bill seeks to create a stable political environment that supports ongoing national development projects.

“We met with the elderly here in Chiredzi to reaffirm the importance of CAB 3 so that they understand the changes that will come from it, while also emphasising the importance of defending our President. The changes are positive as they will ensure continuity in various developmental projects while also paving the way for a better political space,” he said.

The organisation also reiterated its commitment to defending President Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa against what it described as attacks from rogue elements using different platforms.

ZAPI Masvingo Provincial Vice Chairperson, Cde Vongai Chokera, said the outreach programme was also meant to engage elderly citizens on national governance issues while extending social support during the winter season.

“We decided to spend time with our elders discussing CAB 3 so that they fully understand the trajectory the country is taking. We also did not come empty-handed, as we want the elderly to be comfortable during this winter season,” she said.

Beneficiaries in Chiredzi welcomed the gesture, expressing appreciation for the support.

“It is always heartwarming to know there are people who remember us,” said one beneficiary.
Another added: “It is now winter and at times it gets very cold, but now we are covered.”

ZAPI has been conducting engagements across the country as part of efforts to mobilise support for Constitutional Amendment No. 3 Bill, which now awaits debate in Parliament
