VICE President Colonel (Rtd) Dr Kembo Mohadi has launched the Family Values and Christian Initiative in Beitbridge District, as Government moves to deepen collaboration with the church and promote strong family structures as a foundation for national development.
The initiative, launched on Saturday, seeks to strengthen partnerships between Government and religious institutions while advancing social values aligned with Vision 2030 and the National Development Strategy 2.
Addressing congregants and community members during the launch, Vice President Mohadi said stable families are central to building a prosperous nation.
“Marriage is the first institution ordained by God, before Government, industry or schools. A nation is only as strong as its families,” he said.
“When fathers are present and responsible, when mothers are honoured and supported, and when children are raised with discipline and love, the nation rises.”
He said the Second Republic has deliberately placed family welfare at the centre of national development programmes under Priority Pillar Seven of the National Development Strategy 2, which focuses on social development, gender equality and social protection.
Vice President Mohadi also pledged continued Government support for churches and faith-based organisations involved in community development initiatives.
“Churches of Zimbabwe, your work is vital, irreplaceable and valued. Government does not stand above you or apart from you. We stand with you,” he said.
“In the spirit of partnership, we will build a stronger Zimbabwe together.”
The launch also featured a marriage ceremony in which Archbishop Edgar Maireva tied the knot with his wife.
Government collaboration with churches has, over the years, contributed to the construction of schools, clinics and other community infrastructure projects across the country.
