GOVERNMENT has encouraged youths trained under the Vocational Skills Programme to apply for funding under the recently launched US$1 million Youth Empowerment Fund to support income-generating projects and business ventures.

Youth empowerment remains a key government priority, with 121 youths in Shamva district graduating in vocational skills under the Care to Share program that was initiated by Young Africa, Hope Foundation, and the Ministry of Youth Empowerment Development and Vocational Training.

“I was doing motor vehicle maintenance, and I was the best and received an award. I am very happy. I want to encourage all youths to acquire skills,” a youth said.

“I acquired skills in mining, and this will help as I was previously operating with no training,” a graduate said.

Deputy Minister of Youth Empowerment Development and Vocational Training Honourable Kudakwashe Mupamhanga said the country’s success hinges on deliberate investment in human capital development with youth empowerment being prioritised.

“Two weeks ago, as the Ministry of Youth, we launched the 1 million fund, and as we were preparing the programming, we agreed that those who get first preference are those who have received training,” he said.

The Care to Share program that empowered youth from six wards in Shamva District is firmly aligned to National Development Strategy 2 and the National Youth Empowerment Strategy of 2026 to 2030.
