FORMER security sector members under the Ex-Security Members for Economic Development have thrown their weight behind Constitutional Amendment Number 3 Bill (CAB3), saying the proposed changes will ensure policy continuity and accelerate the country’s development agenda.
A national interface meeting between the Ex-Security Members for Economic Development and ZANU PF National Political Commissar, Cde Munyaradzi Machacha, held in Gweru this Tuesday, saw attendees endorsing Constitutional Amendment Number 3 Bill, with members describing it as key to sustaining economic growth and policy consistency.
“We support the party and President Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa because of the development trajectory the country is taking. As ex-security members, we believe continuity is important for national progress,” said Ex-Security Members for Economic Development national chairperson, Cde Innocent Chidhumo.
“We are harnessing our experience towards the attainment of Vision 2030 and we fully support CAB3. Every member is welcome as we continue supporting government programmes and national development,” said Ex-Security Members for Economic Development secretary-general, Cde Pecky Ushe.
Addressing the gathering, ZANU PF National Political Commissar, Cde Munyaradzi Machacha, said the amendment presents an opportunity for the country to prioritise development over political contestation.
“CAB3 offers us an opportunity to focus on development and service delivery for communities and families. Citizens judge leadership through roads, clinics, schools and livelihoods, not political noise. This is the time to build and transform communities,” he said.
The ruling party said broad-based engagements with affiliates and communities will continue as momentum builds around Constitutional Amendment Number 3 Bill, which supporters believe is aimed at consolidating development gains and enhancing service delivery.
