TRADITIONAL leaders in Insiza District have welcomed ongoing infrastructure and empowerment programmes, citing tangible improvements in livelihoods and service delivery.
Chiefs from the district said development initiatives rolled out under the Second Republic are addressing long-standing challenges, particularly in food security and community infrastructure.
“The problem that we were facing as a community was hunger, but now we are happy because the coming of the Second Republic brought a lot of empowerment to the communities, especially farming skills and other related life-changing skills. All this has brought a lot of economic development to our people,” said Chief Jahana.
Chief Maduna said infrastructure upgrades are visible across communities.
“The coming in of the Second Republic led by Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa has brought Developmental changes within our schools, especially the construction of Laboratories. In my community, we have roads, clinics, and other Infrastructure development. This is a clear sign that the Second Republic is not only saying things but also doing what they say, not leaving anyone or any place behind and by that we have immensely benefited as the people Filabusi and the general Insiza community and beyond,” he said.
Government says collaboration with traditional leaders remains central to delivering community-focused development.
Registrar General Mr Henry Machiri said efforts are underway to improve access to services.
“Most of our offices around the country are going to be solarised so that we don’t turn away citizens when they seek to register, and again government has given a nod so that Traditional leaders become Key witnesses in the registration of births and deaths and other services,” he said.
Matabeleland South Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Albert Nguluvhe, said hosting Independence celebrations has accelerated infrastructure development in the province.
“We were luck as Matabeleland South to host the Independence celebrations because it added Infrastructure development on top of the ones that we already such as school laboratories, clinics roads and even housing, so the whole of this Mat South is developed as the President says no one and no place should be left behind,” he said.
