PRESIDENT Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa on Thursday received Letters of Credence from the newly appointed ambassadors of Bangladesh, Peru and Mauritania during a ceremony at State House in Harare.

The diplomats formally accredited to Zimbabwe were Bangladesh’s Ambassador, Mr Shah Ahmed Shafi, Peru’s Ambassador, Mr Jose Javier Augusto Shaw, and Mauritania’s Ambassador, Mr Amedi Camara.

Speaking after presenting his credentials, Ambassador Shafi said relations between Zimbabwe and Bangladesh continue to strengthen, with prospects for deeper diplomatic engagement in the future.

He said discussions focused on expanding cooperation in sectors where Bangladesh has established expertise, particularly cotton processing and pharmaceutical manufacturing.

Ambassador Shafi also expressed optimism that growing bilateral relations could create opportunities for broader diplomatic engagement as the two countries seek to deepen cooperation.

The presentation of credentials formally authorises the diplomats to represent their respective countries in Zimbabwe and marks a further step in strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
