United Nations Security Council delegation visits Great Zimbabwe Monument

Story by Mercy Matinha

THE visiting United Nations Security Council delegation, which is in the country at the invitation of the government, toured the Great Zimbabwe Monument this Sunday.

The visit forms part of a high-level familiarisation tour linked to Zimbabwe’s bid for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council.

The delegation, which was accompanied by Zimbabwe’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Taonga Mushayavanhu, among other senior government officials, was welcomed by the Minister of State for Masvingo Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Ezra Chadzamira.

The visit to Great Zimbabwe, a symbol of the country’s rich cultural heritage, is meant to showcase Zimbabwe’s historical legacy and its potential to contribute meaningfully to international dialogue on sustainable development, tourism, and cultural preservation, all key pillars within the United Nations framework.
