THE Commander-in-Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, President Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa, has promoted two senior Zimbabwe National Army officers to the rank of Brigadier General.
Brigadier General Kenson Carlos Dube and Brigadier General Jabulani Mlambo were conferred with their new insignia during an investiture ceremony held at Josiah Magama Tongogara Barracks on Friday.
Commander Zimbabwe National Army, Lieutenant General Asher Walter Tapfumaneyi, commended the officers for their professionalism, loyalty and dedication to duty.
“Your promotion is a testimony to your possession of the required qualities and attributes of military leadership at General level. This is a result of a thorough and exhaustive assessment by the Command Element. Furthermore, it is an expression of the trust and confidence that President Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa has bestowed upon you. You should therefore uphold the Constitution of Zimbabwe in the defence of our nation’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
The newly promoted officers pledged to discharge their duties with diligence and commitment to national service.
“We do not take this promotion for granted as we are aware that there were many other colonels who were competent and could have equally been promoted. We are aware of the immensity of the task that lies ahead of us. We will endeavour to be more than equal to the task,” Brigadier General Dube said.
Said Brigadier General Mlambo: “I would like express profound gratitude for the confidence and trust that you have shown in me. We will continue to uphold and defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our nation”.
The officers were also reminded of their role in advancing Zimbabwe’s economic and institutional transformation as part of their expanded leadership responsibilities.
