TANZANIA’S Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Suzan Kaganda, says Zimbabwe and Tanzania are set to deepen economic cooperation ahead of the 9th Joint Permanent Commission of Cooperation (JPCC) meeting scheduled for July.

“Our discussion is based on our bilateral cooperation… we discussed how we are going to promote our economies… and how we are going to hold our coming ninth joint permanent commission meeting… where various stakeholders will have the opportunity to review what we agreed upon,” she said.

Ambassador Kaganda made the remarks following a meeting with Vice President, General (Retired) Dr Constantino Chiwenga in Harare on Friday.

The JPCC is expected to build on existing cooperation frameworks and strengthen economic diplomacy between Zimbabwe and Tanzania.

The two countries already enjoy strong bilateral relations, with the upcoming session set to review progress on agreements signed last year, including a Memorandum of Understanding between the Tanzania Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture and the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce.

Ambassador Kaganda said implementation of the agreement is already underway.

“We oversee the signing to push… implementation… and I have realised that it has started to work… Tanzania is going to be represented with some companies from business enterprises,” she said.

The engagement is expected to unlock new investment opportunities, enhance trade and support job creation in both countries as they scale up economic cooperation.
