Chingwizi clinic upgrade set to enhance maternal healthcare access

ZANU PF has extended its community development initiatives to Chingwizi Rural Health Centre in Mwenezi East, where new equipment and infrastructure upgrades are expected to improve healthcare delivery, particularly for women.

The intervention, implemented as part of Women’s Month commemorations, focuses on strengthening maternal health services through the provision of running water and modern medical equipment at the facility.

For villagers, the improvements mark a significant step towards addressing long-standing challenges, including limited access to clean water and basic healthcare services.

“We are grateful that we are now going to have running water at the clinic because we used to go far to get water. Now we know we have everything we need when we come to give birth. It is a positive development which we are really happy about because it gives us proper medical care. It is always exciting to be remembered. Now we know we can come to the clinic and get proper care,” women said.

Health officials at the centre say the upgrades will enhance service delivery, particularly for expectant mothers who rely on the facility for antenatal and postnatal care.

“This is indeed a welcome development because this clinic services a lot of people, especially expectant mothers. Now that there is going to be running water and modern equipment, among other things, I am sure that our services will improve as we will be in a position to provide better care for our patients,” Sister in Charge, Sister Moreblessings Sithole said.

Mwenezi East legislator, Honourable Sheilah Chikomo, said the initiative reflects ongoing efforts to improve access to healthcare in rural communities.

“We are saying no one and no place should be left behind, and so as we celebrate women this month, it is critical to ensure they also get better health care services, no matter where they are. These are the women who do a lot in the communities, and so it is only prudent for us to do all we can to assist these communities to have access to better health care.”

ZANU PF has been introducing various projects to empower women across the country as the revolutionary party moves to strengthen Women’s participation in the developmental matrix.
