HARARE giants Dynamos remain confident they have assembled a squad capable of restoring the club’s lost glamour ahead of the 2026 Premier Soccer League season.

The Jairos Jiri charity match against arch-rivals Highlanders at Barbourfields Stadium offered both traditional powerhouses a timely assessment of their squads before the new campaign.

Despite the stern test in Bulawayo, Dynamos head coach Genesis Mangombe drew encouragement from his side’s composure in build-up play and ability to create clear-cut chances against quality opposition.

Mangombe, back for a second stint at the Glamour Boys, said there were encouraging signs despite the result.

“Playing Highlanders at Barbourfields is never easy. For us, we focused on the positives. We managed to penetrate the opposition and create chances. On another day, we could have won the match, but we go back to the drawing board and re-strategise as we continue to improve. We still have a few slots to fill, but we are happy with the progress so far,” he said.

The departure of former captain Emmanuel Jalai created a leadership void, with Mangombe entrusting the armband to Shadreck Nyahwa.

“Shadreck is a good leader. You saw the effort he puts in to get us goals. At times, it is not easy, but he is a leader we trust to guide the team,” Mangombe added.

Dynamos will also rely on the experience of midfielder Trevor Mavhunga and veteran striker Perfect Chikwende as they seek to mount a serious challenge in the 2026 campaign.
