Zimbabwe’s Lisa Sibanda emerges as top African contender at Miss Cosmo

ZIMBABWE has secured a strong showing on the global pageantry stage after Lisa Sibanda finished in the Top 10 at the second edition of the Miss Cosmo pageant, held at Creative Park in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

Sibanda stood out among 71 contestants from around the world after she advanced into the Top 21, becoming the only African delegate to reach that stage of the competition.

The pageant featured ten African countries, including Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Lesotho, Liberia, Namibia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe.

However, it was Lisa Sibanda who carried Africa’s hopes the furthest.

From the start of the comeback phase earlier this month, Sibanda impressed judges with her confidence, talent, and strong stage presence.

She emerged as a powerful voice on the international platform, narrowly missing a place in the Top five.

The Miss Cosmo 2025 crown was awarded to Yolina Lindquist of the United States.

She was crowned Miss Cosmo 2024, Ketut Permata Juliastrid of Indonesia.

This is the second time Zimbabwe has participated in Miss Cosmo with another beauty, Ruvimbo Njomboro, who also made it into the Top 10 at the first edition held last year.

Lisa Sibanda’s success adds to Zimbabwe’s growing list of international pageant achievements in 2025.

Several local beauty queens have flown the national flag high on global stages this year.

Her performance signals Zimbabwe’s rising strength in global pageantry, and once again, the nation has shone brightly on the world stage, closing off the pageantry calendar for the year in a positive tone.
