CHINHOYI-A yet-to-be-identified man was fatally struck by a train in Chinhoyi this evening while allegedly attempting to cross the railway line.
According to preliminary reports, the victim is believed to have been wearing headphones (earpieces) at the time of the incident and may not have heard the approaching train.
National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) spokesperson Andrew Kunambura confirmed the tragic incident, which has raised concerns over pedestrian safety near railway lines.
Police are still working to establish the victim’s identity. His body has since been transported to Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital for a postmortem.
