NKAYI-A significant milestone has been recorded in Lupane District following the commissioning of critical infrastructure at Sibombo School, bringing renewed hope to the local community.
The newly built and fully furnished classroom block, alongside a piped water scheme valued at US$40 000, was officially commissioned in Nkayi, much to the joy of learners, parents and school authorities.
The project is a collaborative effort between the Government and development partner, World Vision, aimed at transforming the learning environment for children in marginalised areas.
Local residents expressed gratitude for the timely intervention.
“Our children have been given an important necessity and we thank the government,” a guardian said.
“When we witness such improvements, it inspires the children to learn. As parents, we are grateful,” one parent said.
“In this area, such a development is critical. We are overjoyed,” a community member added.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Matabeleland North Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Richard Moyo, lauded the development as a testament to the Second Republic’s commitment to inclusive development.
“The Second Republic continues rewriting the story. This is what we call service to the people. This school block and water scheme play a very important role among learners,” he remarked.
The project is part of the broader national development agenda that places infrastructure development at the heart of efforts to uplift communities and improve access to quality education across Zimbabwe.
With the education sector’s infrastructure demands on the rise, government and its partners reaffirmed their dedication to ensuring that no learner is left behind, particularly in previously underserved rural areas.
The commissioning of the Sibombo School facilities serves as a practical demonstration of the impact of devolution and the public-private partnerships driving transformation in the country’s education landscape.
