ZRP flags nearly 300 motorists in CBD traffic blitz

HARARE – NEARLY 300 motorists have been flagged by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) in Harare’s Central Business District (CBD) for contravening various traffic regulations, as the police intensify efforts to restore order on the country’s roads.

The operation forms part of a broader government initiative aimed at curbing lawlessness in urban centres, ensuring adherence to traffic laws, and addressing the growing number of road traffic violations in the capital.

In a statement issued this Monday, ZRP National Spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi urged affected motorists whose offences were captured on surveillance to report to the police within seven days.

While responding to questions raised in the Senate question and answer session last week, the Minister of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Honourable Kazembe Kazembe revealed that cameras will be installed in urban centres across the country as part of efforts to curb crime.
