ZANU PF Harare Provincial Coordinating Committee has unanimously recommended the co-option of businessman and philanthropist, Cde Kudakwashe Tagwirei into the Central Committee of the party.
ZANU PF Harare Province held its Coordinating Committee meeting this Monday at the party’s offices in Harare to deliberate on pertinent issues in the province.
The forthcoming by-elections in Glenview South Constituency where the party will be represented by Cde Tsitsi Tawomhera, the failed demonstrations and the co-option of members in provincial positions as well as the central committee, were among the issues discussed.
“Members of the Central Committee in Harare have proposed that Cde Tagwirei be recommended for co-option into the Central Committee of ZANU PF. Cde Tagwirei is a party member in Harare Metropolitan Province. He is a strategist in business. He is a visionary business leader.
“So, the proposal was put forward by members of the Central Committee and the PCC unanimously agreed to recommend him for co-option into the Central Committee of ZANU PF. So we are going to submit this recommendation to the party’s Secretary General Dr Obert Mpofu that this is the recommendation from Harare Province,” ZANU PF Harare Provincial Chairperson, Cde Godwills Masimirembwa said.
The Deputy Secretary for Economic Affairs in the ZANU PF Politburo, Cde Andy Mhlanga highlighted the importance of co-opting successful businessmen into the party and the value they bring.
“Cde Tagwirei has been supporting the party and this is the time to participate from within, especially towards championing economic empowerment,” he said.
Other wings of the party applauded the decision adopted by the provincial coordinating committee.
ZANU PF has taken a stance to champion economic empowerment in line with the government’s vision 2030 of an upper-middle-income society.
Other positions fell vacant after the suspension and subsequent dismissal of some members for indiscipline.
