GOVERNMENT is on course towards achieving its universal digitisation targets with the latest effort being the capacitation of at least 35 people with disabilities from Kariba with ICT skills.
The programme being implemented through the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ) has seen over 800 people being trained since 2023.
“I have attained ICT skills that are useful to me in my line of work. I am into fishing and with these digital skills, I can now use Microsoft excel to do my calculations and make use of the internet in marketing my business,” a beneficiary said.
POTRAZ’s Universal Services Fund (USF) deputy director Mr Tichafa Mujuru said the programme partnered at least 13 organisations aligned to disability advocacy.
“Over the past 5 days, 35 participants have engaged in learning new digital skills that would open new opportunities in education, employment and daily communication. As POTRAZ, we are honoured to be part of an initiative that advances digital inclusivity and empowers people with disabilities with essential ICT skills.”
As part of its corporate social responsibility, POTRAZ continues to support vulnerable communities by promoting sustainable development through various initiatives, including providing essential goods, healthcare, and infrastructure.
