The Zimbabwe senior women’s football team, the Mighty Warriors are set to face hosts Angola in the first leg of the 2026 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Qualifier this Thursday.

The team has been fine-tuning their skills having held a two-day training session in the Angolan capital, Luanda.

The Mighty Warriors will be looking to get past the hosts they have had difficulties overcoming after so many close battles.

In a rallying cry to the nation, Australia-based Mighty Warriors striker Yolanda Kanyai has rallied fans to come out in numbers and support the team as they take on Angola.

“As we prepare to take on Angola in the CAF Women’s AFCON qualifier, I want to call on all our amazing fans to come out and support us! Your energy and enthusiasm make a huge difference to us on the pitch, and we need you now more than ever. Let’s fill the stadium with green and yellow, and show Angola that we mean business! Your support will drive us to give our all and make our country proud,” Kanyai said.

The return leg is scheduled to take place at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria, South Africa, a week later.

The winner of the tie will face Malawi in the final qualifying round in October for a place at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations finals in Morocco.
