As the year 2024 draws to an end, the last cabinet meeting for the year was held this Tuesday at State House in Harare.
Rounding up on the various achievements and performance of different sectors, President Emmerson Mnangagwa said the revision of the economic growth projections on the back of the El Niño-induced drought’s negative impact on agricultural output was inevitable.
He however reiterated that government remains resolute and optimistic that the fiscal and monetary reforms introduced during the year will increasingly underpin currency stability and usher an economic rebound.
Touching on some of the key deliverables of the Second Republic in 2024, President Mnangagwa said government will on its part continue to channel resources towards housing delivery as well as the upgrading and rehabilitation of both residential and institutional accommodation throughout the country.
With cabinet sitting every Tuesday, President Mnangagwa reminded the ministers that cabinet business takes precedence over all other business.
He said in 2025 the Chief Secretary is directed to strictly monitor individual attendance and ensure errant ministers and officials tow the line or face the consequences.
