The Meteorological Services Department says Zimbabwe could be affected by Tropical Cyclone Chido which is currently affecting the North Eastern part of Madagascar.
According to the Met Department, Tropical Cyclone Chido is predicted to cross into Zimbabwe on the 17th of this month, accompanied by strong winds and heavy rains of above 70 millimetres in 24 hours over some areas.
Areas likely to be affected include Manicaland, Masvingo, Mashonaland East, Mashonaland West, Mashonaland Central, Harare Metropolitan and some parts of the Midlands Province.
Citizens are being encouraged to secure their homes from the strong winds, avoid open spaces during a storm, plan evacuation mechanisms and keep looking out for authentic updates from the Meteorological Services Department and the Department of Civil Protection.
