A Zimbabwean delegation has arrived in Mexico to give moral support to Sakhile Dube, who is representing the country at the Miss Universe Pageant set for this Saturday.
The entourage will witness some of the key stages of the Miss universe pageant competition currently underway in Mexico, including the preliminary and national costume show set for Thursday night.
The Miss Universe Zimbabwe leadership is upbeat the Zimbabwean beauty will raise the country’s flag high at the pageant.
“We are in Mexico to support our Miss Universe representative, Sakile Dube. We are so excited, and we are hopeful that she’ll bring something home. So let’s rally behind her, and let’s keep voting,” Miss Universe Zimbabwe board member, Mrs Miniyothabo Chiwenga.
“With all the preparations and the wardrobe, training we are optimistic that Zimbabwe for the first time will place well,” Miss Universe Zimbabwe Director Tendai Hunda added.
Sakhile is expected to prove her worth at the interviews, preliminary show and national costume competition to qualify for the semi-finals.
The beauty queen with most votes will get an automatic spot in the semi-finals.
Out of the 130 queens, only 25 will qualify for the semi-finals and will get a chance to walk the ramp in their evening gowns before they are trimmed down to 12 on Saturday.
Only the final five out of the selected 12 will go through a round of questions from the jury and a winner will be decided.
Reigning Miss Universe Shynnis Palacios will hand over the reigns to a new queen to be crowned Saturday night.
