THE late Peniel Mandima who worked as a technician at Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) in Harare has been buried in Zaka.
Scores of people from all walks of life converged at Muzondidya village in Zaka, Masvingo Province this Wednesday for the burial of Mandima, who worked in the ZBC Engineering and Broadcasting Technology Department.
Family members, friends and church members spoke glowingly of the late Mandima saying he was a humble and prayerful young man.
“My brother was a unifier and a caring somebody. We are hurt by his death. May his soul rest in peace,” a family member said.
Another added, “He motivated me to become who I am today and I’m grateful. Though he went through a lot of pain, losing him is painful, we will miss him.”
ZBC colleagues described the late technician as a principled, dependable young man who was always at hand to assist with radio transmission issues.
“We are deeply saddened by the passing on of one of our technicians, Peniel. He was a dependable young man who was very honest and humble,” said ZBC’s Radio Studios and Transmission manager, Mr Tinashe Zitsanza.
“Peniel was a hard worker, we used to depend on him most times and as ZBC, we have lost a dedicated staff member,” Classic 263 Station Manager Mr Terrence Mapurisana said.
Born on the 3rd of March in 1996 in Zaka, Mandima did his primary education at Muzondidya Primary School and secondary education at Dzoro High and Hippo Valley High Schools in the Lowveld.
After his secondary education, Mandima studied Mechanotronix at Chinhoyi University of Technology.
He joined ZBC in 2018 as an attachée and soon after completing his degree in 2020, he was engaged as a full-time technician with ZBC until the time of his death.
Mandima succumbed to cancer at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals on the 10th of November.
He is survived by his parents and three siblings.
