Kuvimba Mining House expects to announce partners for the Shamva Hill open-cast mining project by end of this year, to pave way for implementation of operations including establishment of a gold processing plant.
The new project, expected to produce above 250 kilogrammes of gold per month, is one of the projects meant to boost gold output at Shamva Gold Mine according to Kuvimba Mining House Acting Group Chief Executive Officer, Engineer Trevor Barnard.
“We would like to develop that project because there is a good resource there and we have defined the resource well,” Barnard said.
Officials at the mine have confirmed that bankable feasibility studies on the Shamva Hill open-pit project were completed last year.
Along with the implementation of mining operations, there are also plans to establish a 220-thousand-tonne processing plant at the mine.
Officials are optimistic mining operations at Shamva, Jena and Freda Rebecca mines all housed under Kuvimba Mining House will play a pivotal role in contributing to the national gold yield.
