POLICE have launched a manhunt for murder suspects who allegedly killed a three-year-old girl in Guruve this month.
The discovery of the decapitated, decomposed and severely burnt body of a three-year-old girl in Nhokwe village under Chief Chitsungo of Guruve is the latest case in a series of horrific murder cases that have become rampant in the country.
A close relative told the ZBC News that on the 17th of this month, the 3-year-old girl went out to play with other children but never came back.
Her decomposing body was found a few days later with some parts missing.
Zimbabwe Republic Police National Spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident saying they have launched a manhunt for the suspects.
“We can confirm that we have launched a manhunt for murder suspects who allegedly murdered a 3-year-old minor in Guruve. The body of the minor was found with some body parts missing, it is so sad.”
This comes a few years after the disfigured and dismembered body of seven-year-old Tapiwa Makore Junior of Murehwa was found with the head missing.
Investigations led to the arrest of the boy’s uncle Tapiwa Makore Snr who was accused of committing the gruesome murder for ritual purposes.
The latest incident comes at a time when ZRP is investigating the murder of a 57-year-old man from Zhombe who was found dead with missing body parts and a skinned scalp.
Another woman from Mutare was also found dead in her apartment last week after she was last seen with a male friend who is believed to be based in the United States.
